Why we love it: Sleek, durable aluminum case with plastic-free compostable refills.
Wild has become a gold standard in sustainable personal care. Its refillable system pairs a stylish, lifetime aluminium case with compostable refills delivered in 100% plastic-free packaging.
Unlike older stick deodorants that felt draggy, Wild glides on smoothly without leaving behind a greasy residue. The formula relies on tapioca starch and baking soda to absorb moisture and keep you fresh for up to 24 hours. For those prone to underarm rashes, Wild also offers a dedicated Baking Soda-Free Sensitive Range.
- Format: Stick (Refillable Case)
- Key Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Tapioca Starch, Shea Butter, Sunflower Seed Wax

- Cons: Case required for first purchase.
2. Fussy Natural Deodorant — Best Probiotic Formula
Why we love it: Science-backed probiotic technology that destroys odor-causing bacteria.
Fussy combines clean ingredient integrity with playful design. What sets Fussy apart is its use of Lactobacillus probiotics, which actively balance your underarm skin microbiome to inhibit odor-causing bacteria before sweat can react with them.
Fussy’s outer cases are made from recycled plastic, while the refills are made from sugarcane waste pulp and break down completely in home compost. It holds up exceptionally well through light workouts and long workdays.
- Format: Stick (Refillable)
- Key Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Sunflower Wax, Sodium Bicarbonate, Probiotics
- Sensitive Skin Option Available? Yes
- Pros: Highly effective odor protection, compostable refills, clean pebble-shaped case design.

3. Each & Every Natural Deodorant — Best for Sensitive Skin
Why we love it: EWG Verified, 100% baking-soda-free formula made with Dead Sea minerals.
If you have experienced red bumps or itching after using natural deodorants, baking soda is almost certainly the culprit. Each & Every eliminates baking soda entirely, substituting it with Magnesium Hydroxide and Dead Sea Salt to neutralize odor without altering your skin’s natural pH.
The texture is ultra-smooth and silky, absorbing almost instantly without chalky build-up. Additionally, the packaging is crafted from plant-based sugarcane plastic, making it carbon-negative in production.
- Format: Stick
- Key Ingredients: Caprylic Triglyceride, Magnesium Hydroxide, Arrowroot Powder, Dead Sea Salt
- Sensitive Skin Option Available? Yes (Entire line is sensitive-skin safe)
- Pros: EWG Verified, zero baking soda, subtle natural essential oil scents (like Lavender & Lemon).
- Cons: Premium price point.
4. AKT London The Deodorant Balm — Best for Performance & Heavy Sweaters
Why we love it: Premium aesthetic, hyper-concentrated balm formula that lasts through high-intensity workouts.
Created by West End theatre performers who needed a product that could survive double-show days under hot stage lights, AKT London SC.01 is a high-performance deodorant balm packaged in a plastic-free aluminum tube.
Applied like a luxury moisturizer using your fingers or their brass applicator, AKT uses Diatomaceous Earth and Zinc Oxide to absorb moisture and eliminate odor without clogging pores. The unisex, haute-perfumery scents (such as Vetiver, Citrus & Guaiac Wood) rival high-end fragrances.
- Format: Cream / Balm

5. Native Plastic-Free Deodorant — Best Everyday Stick
Why we love it: Tried-and-true performance in a 100% paperboard stick.
Native built its reputation on non-toxic, reliable 72-hour odor protection. Their Plastic-Free edition takes that classic formula and houses it in a 100% biodegradable paperboard tube, completely eliminating single-use plastic.
Formulated with coconut oil, shea butter, and tapioca starch, Native applies clean and dry without any sticky feel. It comes in iconic fan-favorite scents like Coconut & Vanilla and Cucumber & Mint.
- Format: Push-up Paper Tube
- Key Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Baking Soda, Tapioca Starch, Probiotics
- Sensitive Skin Option Available? Yes (Native Sensitive line)
- Pros: Easy transition from conventional antiperspirants, fully compostable package, widely available.
- Cons: Push-up paper tube can sometimes stick if stored in warm areas.
How to Choose the Right Natural Deodorant for You
When transitioning from conventional antiperspirants (which physically plug sweat glands with aluminum salts) to natural deodorants (which target odor bacteria while letting skin breathe), keep these criteria in mind:
- Baking Soda vs. Magnesium Hydroxide: If you have sensitive skin or eczema, choose baking-soda-free formulas using Magnesium Hydroxide or Zinc Oxide to prevent pH irritation.
- Moisture Absorbers: Look for Arrowroot powder, Tapioca starch, or Diatomaceous Earth to absorb sweat naturally without blocking pores.
- Packaging: Opt for plastic-free compostable refills (Wild, Fussy) or recyclable aluminum (AKT) to reduce bathroom landfill waste.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do natural deodorants stop sweat?
Natural deodorants are not antiperspirants. Antiperspirants use aluminum compounds to temporarily block sweat pores. Natural deodorants allow your body to sweat naturally while eliminating the odor-causing bacteria that react with sweat.
How long does the natural deodorant detox period last?
When switching from conventional antiperspirant to natural deodorant, your underarms may undergo an adjustment phase lasting 1 to 3 weeks. During this time, your pores clear out accumulated buildup, which can cause temporary odor or extra sweat. Staying hydrated and gently exfoliating underarms speeds up the transition.
Why does natural deodorant give me a rash?
The most common cause of underarm irritation from natural deodorant is Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda), which is alkaline and can disrupt skin’s natural acidic barrier. If you experience redness, switch to a baking-soda-free formula powered by magnesium or zinc.

The quality of your posts blows me away! Always something unique!
Thanks.

I use the solid Pit Rok. I am fussy about deodourant and have tried various “natural” ones that don’t work well, but this one really does. And you’re certainly right about it lasting forever. I’d like to know a bit more about it though – do you know what it’s made of? Is it really “natural”, or lower impact than regular alternatives? My favourite thing about it is that not only is it fragrance free (they haven’t added any smells to it) but it actually doesn’t smell of anything (unlike many “fragrance free” deodourants that still smell strongly soapy to me)
Hey.. can deodrants actually stop you sweating. they can mask the smell but can they actually stop you sweating even during really hot humid days? x
I use a deodorant from Alvin Connor Natural Balance. Its a shame that not many people have heard of this product. I didnt quite believe it would work at first but now I love it. I still sweat, but I sweat less and never smell. Alvin Connor has a spray and a rock deodorant, both extremely effective. The spray is really unique as it has a hard natural rock substance at the bottom of the bottle, you simply fill the bottle with water and refill until the rock has finished. I have been using mine for a few months now and it has barely dissloved the top. It will probly last me over a year! Great value for money and great for our environment!!!
I’m using a natural deodorant from Terra Naturals which I’d like you to review next time. It lasts as well as any commercial deodorant (I bike to work and a single application in the morning lasts all day), and they have an extra strength “sport” version which is even stronger. It comes in stick, spray and roll-on and is completely natural. No petroleum, no aluminum, never tested on animals, non-GMO, etc., etc. A lot of deodorants claim to be natural but still contain alum, aluminum, and/or petroleum. This is the only one I know of that has none of these ingredients and truly lasts all day.

Does anyone else find it suspect that TerraNaturals is owned in part by DuPont, the chemical/science conglomerate, the inventor of CFCs (cholorflourocarbons) and Teflon? I threw out my deodorant when I read about their invention, Zemea, a glycol that is not propylene-based. I simply don’t trust DuPont to process this glycol in a way that is completely harmless.

I use a vegan, eco-friendly natural deodorant by mama nature called proskin athlete. It is not an ant-iperspirant so it doesn’t stop me from sweating but when I do there is no body odour. I run a lot and go to the gym yet this still stops the BO. Great natural solution.
