A study, that was partially started in response the Channel 4’s The Great Global Warming Swindle, has proved that the sun can’t be blamed for the Earth’s increasing temperatures. Rutherford Appleton Laboratory’s Professor Mike Lockwood, and World Radiation Centre’s Claus Fröhlich have analysed the activity of the sun since 1985. Results show that although for the past 20 years the sun’s output has been in decline, the Earth’s temperature has continued to increase.
Speaking about the Channel 4 documentary aired in March this year, Mike Lockwood said: “That program was so bad it was almost fraudulent. [The subjects raised] made for a decent scientific debate 15 years ago, but the questions have since been settled.”
“This paper is the final nail in the coffin for people who would like to make the sun responsible for present global warming,” Stefan Rahmstorf, a climate scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany, told the journal Nature. via: BBC and Telegraph.co.uk
