As posted at the Eco Street forum by ECO TV:
Is your garden more rubbish dump than compost heap?
Are you a green god/goddess in the kitchen and eco-disaster in the garden?
Do you ever wonder why you never see any wildlife in your own back garden?
We are looking for people from the South East who would like to transform their gardens from eco-catastrophes into gorgeous eco-friendly spaces.
This is not a traditional make-over show and gardens will be chosen on their neglect of basic eco-principles for example, lack of recycling, use of chemicals, harm to or lack of consideration for wildlife, overuse of energy, unnecessary waste disposal.
Each garden will have one major new feature such as a pond to encourage wildlife, a rockery using materials from an earlier extension, a wind turbine or new beds using discarded household objects as well as a number of smaller features. We will also make dramatic changes to the look of the garden through new planting schemes.
We are filming from January 2007 through to May 2007 in the South East. If you are interested in applying to be on the show, please send your contact details (name, telephone number and address). Also include photos and dimensions of your garden and details as to why it is currently an eco-disaster. Finally, suggest ways in which you think we could help you to create an eco-beautiful garden.
Send your application to: greengardens@reeftv.com
Or by post to: Reef Television, 8 Upper St Martin’s Lane, London WC2H 9DL
Applications to be received by Thursday 30th November

I just heard of a possible environmental show in Australia and now this. If this will be another TV trend, I wouldn’t mind it one bit.
I have a garden (inherited) which is a total rubbish dump, used to belong to a person with mental instability. Plenty of made fencing and scultures. But plenty of rubble. It has too much concrete in no bird or animal would like, although the neighbourhood cats use it as a playground or fighting ring! We’re so keen to build a huge compost heap and veggie patch but we we need help. The chaos is too big for us. In our old garden we recycled, composted and grew, tomatoes, rocket, courgettes and all herbs. Now all there is is weeds and wild mint! Help
We have a garden the size of a football pitch, which has been badly neglected for years, we live in the countryside and it would be so nice to see some wildlife in the garden. This garden would be your bigest challenge!!!
I wish I had known about this site earlier. I am determined to make my garden eco friendly and encourage sustainable development…but I’m struggling to even get borders created as I lack additional funds and the physical strength to complete it all. I would most love for my three boys to grow their own fruit and vegetables as I did when I was young. If you ever consider the small garden makeover for a family, then I would be extremely grateful for any help you can provide.
Hiya, i have just read your website from last year. Is there any chnace of doing anything in the south West. I live in Cornwall and we r renovating a house and have a large garden which is completely overgrown with brambles would love a makeover! please help. Jacqui
I would suggest contacting the TV series makers to find out whether they are doing another series. The email address is in the above post.
I am desparate for a garden makeover ! i am self employed contract carer for Barnardos, which means i give short breaks to children/young people with disabilities at my home.I will also be giving a home to a young person soon as a long term placement. my garden is used but could be so much more enjoyable for the young people and we could learn things together about our environment and about ‘going green’. I live semi-rural and are embarressed to say i dont know where to start. It would be life changing for the young people and myself to sort my garden out. I LIVE IN HOPE YOU COULD HELP. Hopefully Davina xx
I am looking for a garden makeover for a group of excluded/dissaffected young people who have recently been given a patch of land to create a green space/garden for young people to use for education and relaxation. I would love to give them a high profile start and although I appreciate that you are in the wrong area, I was wondering if you had any ideas or contacts that could help.
Thank you for your time.
