skywindfarm.jpgBSkyB, Sky News’ parent company, is the first major media company to go “Carbon Neutral”. The company will also be spreading the green message to its growing base of more than 8.1m customers, helping them to become better informed and live more energy efficiently.

It is estimated that set top boxes account for 0.5% of energy use in homes and approximately 1.5% of home electricity use (in homes that have them).
Sky is using a number of strategies to increase the energy efficiency of its products which has led to halving the power consumption of set top boxes since their launch.
