Penney Poyzer, of No Waste Like Home fame, gave birth to a daughter last week and took her placenta home to compost it.
” The placenta would only have been incinerated and what a waste of goodness that would have been!” said Penney.
In an interview with grownupgreen, Penney talks about her natural birth, and how she and husband Gil Schalom will be ensuring that daughter Jasmine grows up green.

Progress on alternative energy is difficult to keep up with. I will attempt to keep abreast of new developments in energy conservation here. Combating global warming won’t get off the ground if we don’t know what to do on an individual basis. I want to see changes made, I want to feel we are all doing our part. We did the same thing for our two daughters, though we didn’t exactly compost it- we buried it under a tree in our yard.
