Swap-O-Rama-RamaThe creatively minded people of New York City come together seasonally to swap, reuse and recycle their unwanted clothing.

Everyone attending the Swap-O-Rama-Rama brings at least one bag of unwanted clothing and a $10 donation. The unwanted clothes are piled up in a heap, and everyone just dives in and helps themselves to whatever they like.

There are a number of DIY workshops run by local artists showing swappers how to make the most of their finds, and a participatory recycled fashion runway for showing off the best finds, asking the audience their opinion, and for local fashion designers to showcase their best recycled creations.

Swap-O-Rama-Rama encourages swappers to cover up existing branding on clothing by handing out free ‘100% Recycled‘ or ‘Modified by Me‘ labels to celebrate the DIY communities collective creativity rather than a company brand.
