mobilerecycle.jpgNot the environmentalist’s favourite retailer by a long stretch, Tesco seems to be making a real effort to appear green. The green pound is the new holy grail for supermarkets, and Tesco isn’t planning to stand back and miss out on all the green back action. Their latest initiative is to reward people who recycle their mobile phones. Just in time for the Christmas mobile phone buying boom, Britain’s favourite retailer, not, will be handing out recycling rewards of up to £70 of Tesco Mobile airtime if you’re a Tesco Mobile customer, or a Tesco Gift Card if you’re with another network. Plus you can get 300 Green Clubcard Points, or donate £3 to the British Red Cross, Tesco’s charity of the year.

Of course, this is all a marketing exercise, and they do try to persuade you to join Tesco Mobile with a £5 airtime bonus. Recycling is a good thing though, no matter who you do it through, and rewards are always tempting.
