We’re a little late on take-up with this, but never late than never. It’s Energy Efficiency Week this week (it started on Monday), a national campaign in the UK to bring attention to saving energy, money and the environment. With homes contributing 28% of all carbon emissions in the UK, and the UK top of the European Energy Wasters League (not a title to be proud of) it’s time to wake up and wise up. Here’s what you can do!

Commit to save 20% of the energy you use every day to do your bit to prevent climate change.

Wondering how you can save energy?

  • Next time you buy an electrical appliance like a washing machine or fridge, make sure you buy an A-rated appliance.
  • Only boil as much water as you need for your cuppa, don’t fill the kettle.
  • Walk instead of drive for short distances.
  • Turn the temperature of your washing machine down to 30′C.
  • Change your lightbulbs to energy saving bulbs.

I read somewhere today that if you stop watching TV you can save 20kg of carbon a year. That might not seem a lot to some people… but think of all the spare time you will have as a result :-)
