greengranny.org is a new blog, run by a granny who is trying to be green. She is protecting the planet for her grandchildren and for yours.

Just when my generation thought we had earned our rest and some self-indulgence in life, we find that our kids need us more than ever. In today’s global economy, American young people face rising costs of education, sinking job security, and a skyrocketing national debt that happened on our watch. They don’t believe Social Security or Medicare will be there for them when they are our age. Plus, they are doing the hard work of raising the next generation. People like that aren’t likely to have the time or energy to battle global warming. It’s up to us—the most fortunate generation on Earth—lest we be the last fortunate generation on Earth.

As tour operators and travel agents begin to offer travellers the option to offset carbon emissions created by travelling, one online care hire company is also making a contribution to lessening the impact of travel on the planet. Carrentals.co.uk is offering their customers the option to offset the carbon emissions caused by their car rentals. They have teamed up with The CarbonNeutral Company, who will invest the 25p per day offset charge in a forestry scheme in Snowdonia, Wales. Carrentals.co.uk is itself a carbon neutral company, offsetting carbon emissions created by its operation.
